Dr. Brian DeMarco is the Director and Chief Technology Officer of the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park. He is a professor of physics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where his research team has advanced the frontier of quantum science and technology using light and atoms for over 20 years. DeMarco is the Director of the National Science Foundation Quantum Leap Challenge Institute for Hybrid Quantum Architectures and Networks, which is a $32M, six-year effort of 40+ senior researchers to advance modular and hybrid quantum computing.
DeMarco is also the Director of the Illinois Quantum Information Science and Technology Center (IQUIST), which supports the $150M+ quantum research and engineering portfolio of 65 senior researchers, 170 graduate students and 40 postdocs at UIUC. In service to the field, DeMarco serves on the American Physical Society Panel on Public Affairs leadership team. For his research excellence and leadership, DeMarco has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Physical Society and received the NASA Group Achievement Award.
