For 109 years, Pilgrim Baptist Church of South Chicago has served the community. The church has seen many changes during that time — including when US Steel South Works closed in the early 1990s, leaving many families without access to the opportunities the steel mills had created. 

For the last thirteen years as the Senior Pastor of Pilgrim Baptist, Pastor Corwin Lasenby, Sr. has been seeking change for his community. As the IQMP takes shape, his hope is that South Chicago will once again become a destination, bringing with it new investments, jobs and opportunities for the region.
