Chicago Tribune – The former U.S. Steel South Works site on Chicago’s South Side is giving rise to something that hasn’t been there in decades — hope. I first saw the site as a kid in the early 1980s, before the steel mill closed and the site sat vacant for more than 30 years. Now, we’re turning 128 acres of the site into the Illinois Quantum & Microelectronics Park. I want to share an update on what we’re building — and just as importantly, what we’re not — so the people of our city can share in the excitement.
