To Malki Brown, greater South Chicago has always been home. Growing up in his father’s bookstore — one of the first African American-owned bookstores in the city — Malki’s South Chicago roots run deep.
Now, Malki serves as the president of his local block club, creating connections between his neighbors and keeping them informed on new developments, such as the IQMP.
In the latest #IQMPCommunityVoices, Malki discusses how he and his neighbors are seeing the community go from divestment to investment after years of broken promises and what the IQMP means for future generations on Chicago’s South Side.
