Hyde Park Herald – To the editor,
I grew up on Chicago’s South Side, where the former U.S. Steel South Works site has sat vacant most of my life.
For over 30 years, hundreds of acres have been fenced off while surrounding communities waited for the investment other parts of Chicago often take for granted.
I’ve spent much of my adult life working to strengthen this community and make sure the people who live here have a voice in shaping what comes next. Through Real Men Charities, The Quarry Event Center and our South Shore Community Wealth Forums, our work has focused on connecting the assets already in our community with investment and opportunity.
That’s the lens through which I see the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park.
